Folegandros: with the impressive “Chora”

Folegandros

Between Milos and Sikinos there is a small rocky and narrow island called Folegandros. Its name derives from the name of the son of Minos, king of Crete.

Karavostasis is the port of the island, from which you can access the dark colored beach of Vardia. Tourist boats sail around the island, past Georgitsi and Chrysospilia caves with superb stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Also worth visiting is the great monastery of Panagia, with a unique view over the whole island and the churches of Eleoussa, Pantanassa and Agia Sophia, located in the castle district, which is literally built on the edge of the cliffs.
