Agistri is a verdurous islet in the heart of Argosaronikos Gulf. It is the smallest among the Argosaronikos islands and is 22 nautical miles away from Piraeus and just 4 nautical miles away from Aegina. The ancient name of the island was Kekryfalia.

Agistri is a small earthly paradise. With deep blue waters adorning the beautiful isolated beaches, piney forests sweeping round the picturesque watersides, and small tourist traffic, Agistri invite the visitor to have calm and pleasant holidays.

Agistri Attractions & Surrounding Area

In Agistri there are two natural harbors, where the ships put in at, Skala harbor and Megalochori harbor. Ferry boats from Piraeus put in at the former, whereas both are linked to Aegina.

Megalochori, which is named differently Mylos, is the capital of the island, and constituted during the antiquity a base of operations of the ships and a supply depot. Today, with the astonishing sandy beaches, the scenic paved lanes, and the houses which with their architecture emit an island air, Megalohori attracts the visitor.

Skala with its sandy beaches constitute an absolutely touristic settlement.

Pictorial piney Limenaria fascinates the visitor with the beauty it demonstrates. Thanks to the rocks which are found beneath the surface of the sea, the area is suitable for underwater fishing.

Kantouni, the most ancient settlement of Agistri offers a marvelous landscape, combining in an absolute harmony the green of pines with the blue of the sea.

In Agistri, you can enjoy the sun and the sea in various picturesque beaches. You have to visit anyway the fascinating beach of Halikiada with the heavy pebbles and the crystal-clear waters, following a heavenly way through the pines, as well as the exotic beach of Aponisos, where you are going to relax enjoying the calmness of the landscape.

Areas with archeological interest are Aponisos, Megaritissa, and Kontari. In the Intellectual Centre of Megalochori, various archeological finds are exhibited. Westwards, below the surface of the sea, there are sunken antiquities.

You can visit the churches of Zoodohos Pigi and Agioi Pantes in Megalochori, Agioi Anargyroi in Skala, Agia Barbara in Polemi, Agia Kyriaki and Agios Nikolaos in Limenaria.

Walking, for the particular over the kind, up to the small church of Panagia in Metochi, is going to compensate you with the cool air and the wonderful view. You can tour the island by taxi or by the small 12-seater bus, or still hire a bicycle, a motorbike or a car.

Agistri allots a very satisfactory number of lodgings (hotels, apartments, studios, rooms), where you can find accommodation. In Agistri you can enjoy the open-air cinema, have fun in clubs and bars and go in for sea sports.

How to get there

Coastally: Ferry Boats (about 2 hours) and flying dolphins (about 55 minutes) depart daily from Piraeus Port to Agistri.

You can also reach Agistri through Aegina. In the island there are two sea-taxis that can serve you round-the-clock.
